Newtone Archtop strings (11's)
Handmade British strings- my personal favourite, they turned me away from flatwound!
Normally roundwound strings (from any brand) are formed by simply winding wire around a central core (usually hexagonal) which gives a sound with more sustain and brightness which is pretty much exactly what most jazz guitarists don't want! How Newtone Archtop strings differ are that they take a round core and wrap not one thick winding, but 2 much thinner windings which give 3 benefits. Tonally- after the first week or so they settle to a great warm sounding string. Feel- the considerably thinner outer winding in contact with your hand feels more comfortable than a 'sticky' feeling flatwound. Tension- A much easier guitar string to play quite frankly, you might even want to go a gauge higher than normal.
